Holley is my name, Mommy is my game

Since this will be my first blog entry, I want to give you some background on myself and what this blog will explore and discuss. Don’t worry, I’ll try not to bore you and keep it short. Well, no promises. First things first, my name is Holley, I’m a young, married, working mom of a handsome 10 month old baby boy. He has completely turned my world upside down but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, as much as I love my baby, I don’t think it’s in me to be a stay at home mom. I applaud any of my readers that are stay-at-home moms. It takes a lot of love, definitely hard work, commitment and loads and loads of patience. I’m still working on the patience part, hence the reason I go to work every day. I think a lot of people take stay-at-home moms for granted and think it’s all fun and games. It’s a war ground y’all. Haha Just kidding, but not really. On the other hand, it’s not a walk in the park to be a working mom either. I remember getting up every three hours when Ayden was still a newborn and go to work running on only 4 or 5 hours of sleep using all the will power I could muster up to get my butt out of bed. The moral of the story? Every mom, no matter her day job, doesn’t have an easy job. Being a mom is exhausting and exciting, frustrating and rewarding, crazy and amazing!

Let’s see, what else? My husband and I purchased our first home in February 2016 and are so blessed to have our own place! I have always wanted to own a home and be able to decorate it just how I like. I couldn’t wait to paint the walls whatever color my heart desired, hang pictures and not worry about having to spackle nail holes in less than a year. I wanted to live somewhere that I didn’t have to unpack all our boxes knowing that I was going to be packing it all back up in the very near future. However, owning a home also comes with many additional responsibilities, unforeseen costs and necessary purchases to keep it going. For example, you have to mow the lawn ALL. THE. TIME. At least it seems that way. That requires a lawn mower, a weed whacker and a bunch of other stuff I will probably never learn how to use. Also, appliances break. Nuff said.

On another note, I have been married to my wonderful husband for 3 ½ years and we have been together for over 5 years… wow, that’s a long time to have to put up with me. He is definitely my other half. He’s the calm to my crazy, the quiet to my talkative, the book smarts to my common sense and the patient to my impatient. We met at Word of Life Bible Institute in Hudson, FL and you know how a lot of people say “It was love at first sight?” Well, it wasn’t. My husband is a very handsome man but we were just so focused on other things that we literally were at the same place all summer and didn’t even notice or talk to each other, but it’s ok, I ended up introducing myself to him and the rest is history, so it all worked out.

A few of my hobbies, other than personal paparazzi for my baby, include singing, song writing, playing guitar (it’s been a while, but hey, I’m doing good if I’m showered and the baby is happy and healthy). I also love to refinish furniture and decorate which is one reason I was so excited to have my own home. I have really stopped all of these since having Ayden but he’s starting to get a little more independent and I really would love to pick them up again. Oh, and my new hobby that will allow me to journal about my life, the painfully honest struggles of motherhood and anything else that is on my heart, is blogging. I really have no idea if anyone will actually read this, but that really isn’t my intent, I want to just share my heart and see where it takes me.
